Blender
Blender is an advanced 3D modeling program capable of producing high quality animations, performing rendering, post-production, interactive creation and playback. It is the only 3D creation suite which allows the artist to model, texture, animate, render, and export the finished product in a package less than 10 MB.
The active development community is steadily adding new features and extensions such as the superb Yafray rendering engine for generating photo-realistic effects. Blender now also supports dynamic particle generation, advanced UV texture unwrapping methods using LSCM algorithms and much more. Blender natively exports to a multitude of 3D formats such as VRML, Cal3d, AC3D. With the powerful and easily extensible Python plugin support, you can write your own extensions or choose from a range of existing plug-ins.
With the recent user interface overhaul and the release of the 2.3 Blender User's guide, using Blender is easier than ever. Even so, 3D modeling remains a complex computing task, with the result that Blender is an extensive application with a steep learning curve.

Notepad2
Notepad2 is intended to be a replacement for the Notepad program that is included as part of Windows. Like Notepad, Notepad2 is small, fast, and has few frills. It does, however, add some functionality such as colour syntax highlighting that many people will find useful, especially those that have to edit the odd HTML page or script. You can select the level of zoom and select the editing font. Notepad2 supports Unicode, UTF-8, Unix and Mac text files.
The Notepad2 program is largely based on source code from the Scintilla Text Editor (SciTE), also available on this CD. SciTE also has tabs which facilitates editing of multiple files. It also has further options for configuration, but is not quite as simple to use as Notepad2.
Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP
PDFCreator
Use PDFCreator to generate PDF documents directly from any Windows program. PDF (Portable Document Format) files are the de facto standard in electronic publishing, because the author can be sure that the document will look as intended on all platforms, regardless of local fonts or lack thereof. PDFs can also be generated with commercial packages, but PDFCreator is by far the easiest and cheapest option (free). Once installed, simply select 'Print' from the File menu of your word processor or drawing program, and select 'PDFCreator Printer' from the list of printers. Click 'Save' and enter a name for your PDF output file. That's it!
Optionally, you may also enter information to identify the document, such as Title, Creation Date and Author. The Options dialogue lets you control the process in more detail. You can set the resolution and compression levels for the various file types, and control how fonts are included. Use the security feature to protect your document with a password. JPEG, PNG, Postscript (PS) and Encapsulated Postscript (EPS) output formats are also supported.

Really Slick Screensavers
The ReallySlick screensavers are a collection of nifty screensavers written in the open graphics language (OpenGL). They may not be the most useful program ever, but they sure are pretty!
Compatibility These should work well on most computers; if your computer is more than a few years old, they may be somewhat slow (the performance can be improved by fiddling with their settings; also try updating your graphics card drivers). Also, there have been reports that computers using integrated Intel graphics cards have poor performance. This is because Intel disabled OpenGL on some of the cards it produces; there is unfortunately nothing to be done.
Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP

TightVNC
TightVNC is a cross-platform remote desktop software application that uses and extends VNC's RFB protocol to control another computer's screen remotely. The extensions provide for 'tight encoding', which improves performance over low bandwidth connections. TightVNC is cross-compatible with other client and server implementations of VNC however tight encoding is not supported by most other implementations so it is necessary to use TightVNC at both ends to gain the full advantage of its enhancements. TightVNC uses so-called "tight encoding" of areas, which is effectively a combination of JPEG compression and other types of encoding. It is possible to watch videos and play DirectX games through TightVNC over a broadband connection, albeit at a low frame rate. TightVNC combines many other common features of VNC derivatives, such as file transfer capability.

Sokoban
Sokoban YASC (Yet Another Sokoban Clone) is a maddeningly simple game first conceived by Hiroyuki Imabayashi, a Japanese programmer. The word Sokoban means "warehouse keeper." The object of the game is to put all of the crates in your "warehouse" into the designated storage areas. Sounds easy, right? Well, there are a few restrictions:
You are not allowed to pull crates, only push.
You cannot push more than one box at a time.
You cannot pass through a box or wall.
These restrictions -- especially the first one -- turn a seemingly simple task into a delightfully difficult challenge.
Win 98/ME/2000/XP
Enigma
Enigma is a computer game based on Oxyd. Enigma consists of approximately 1000 levels, known as ‘landscapes’ which may be played in any order. The player controls one or more marbles using the mouse, and interacts with the landscape purely through the marble. Levels fall into two broad categories: Oxyd landscapes and meditation landscapes. Some levels may appear to fall into one category while actually being in the other.
In Oxyd landscapes players must activate matching Oxyd stones. When Oxyd stones are hit by a marble, laser beam, or certain types of moving brick, they open to reveal a coloured circle. If two matching Oxyd stones are activated they remain open, while if non-matching Oxyd stones are activated the first one closes. When all Oxyd stones are open the level is complete.
In meditation landscapes players must place small white marbles into hollows in the landscape, with one marble in each hollow. Meditation landscapes may feature large marbles and Oxyd stones as a distraction. Some meditation levels have too few or two many hollows, in which case players must produce extra hollows or remove existing hollows in order to complete the level.

Neverball
Neverball is a 3D platform game similar to Super Monkey Ball. The main gameplay of Neverball is based on moving a ball using gravity by tilting the game world, not directly controlling the ball. The mouse, keyboard, or joystick tilt the level to help guide the ball to a goal, via an obstacle course, with a set time limit. Moving platforms and other crazy objects get in the way, making levels progressively harder. To unlock the goal on each level, the player must collect a required amount of coins. Coins come in three different colors: yellow, red and blue. Red coins are worth 5 yellows and blue coins are worth 10 yellows. Collecting 100 coins gains an extra life. The current release (v1.4.0) contains 3 level sets, each level set containing 25 levels. The first level set is Easy for beginners, and the other two are for more expert players.
Neverball features other challenges such as collecting as many coins as possible within the time limit, or just to see how quickly the player can finish a level. Easy, Medium and Hard high scores are available for each and every level.
Three camera modes are available at the press of a key. Pressing F1 switches to the Chase Camera, which rotates to follow the ball quickly and closely. Pressing F2 switches to the Lazy Camera, which is the same as the Chase Camera, but responds slower. Pressing F3 switches to Manual Camera, in which the camera will only rotate when you press the specific buttons for it (default is left/right mouse buttons).
