Here we have a beautiful crystal Vermilion #555 creamer, sugar & tray set made by Paden City Glass in the 1940's. Designed by George Daner in the early 1940's, this pattern was only given the line number #555 by the company. The Vermilion name was popularized by Hazel Marie Weatherman in her books. This pattern is also known in some reference books as Mr. B in honor of Jerry Barnett although I have never heard it called by that name. This blank was often used for a variety of beautiful etchings, Gazebo or Utopia being one of my favorites. In this case, the creamer and sugar have been copper wheel etched with a lovely sideways tulip design that is simple but elegant. The fan or winged handles are also a delightful feature. Very nice!
